Girlfriends, Kid Free Shopping and Beer, of Course.

Does it really get better than this, early fall, two amazing friends, no kids, beer and shopping? Welcome to Oktoberfest in Denver.  While I could easily blog about good beer and time with my friends, that's not why I am here.  Lets talk shopping!  I can't believe that after being in Denver for nine years that just yesterday I stumbled across this store, Common Threads.  As you know I am new to consignment and this place rocks!  In addition to having a great selection of clothes, that doesn't include things from Old Navy or the like, they also have great prices, even on their designer goods.  There isn't a thing in the store that is out of reach for almost any budget.  I bought two things yesterday, pair of Hudson Skinny Jeans and an adorable blouse by Maria Cornejo (which normally retails well over $500), for less than the jeans would have cost on their own!  If you live in Denver or Boulder check this place out, I promise you won't be disappointed. Life's Great Dilema

Some weeks are harder than others. This week has been relatively easy, life as usual, until about 10:00 this morning  when I got an email from Cole Haan. I assume it will be even harder this afternoon when I take my two kids for flu shots, but I digress.  Anyway, back to Cole Haan.

In the email, I saw these!  The slip on sneaker is all the rage right now and I have a really hard time resisting most animal print shoes.
Cole Haan, Bowie Slip On Sneaker, $188.

A few weeks ago I was at Nordstrom and saw both of these. The Becker slip on I spotted first, but was too cheap to buy it. Then I saw the Bowie at a much more reasonable price point.
Sam Edelman, Becker Calf Hair, $74.90

Circus Sam Edelman, Cruz Slipon, $53.55

Clearly the Cole Haan shoe is a budget breaker, but I think I have to have it. How do I get around the house banker (aka my husband)?  I am open to suggestions and donations in the form of cash ;-)

Da Bomb

In the event you're not up to speed, the bomber jacket is all the rage this fall.  This one caught my eye last night, in the middle of the night (yes 2 a.m. shopping is awesome).  It's all I can think about this morning and so here I am sharing with you.

This  jacket is available at Zara for $129.00 .  I am sure you'll get your money's worth this season.

Extra 40% Off Fall Sale

Now that I have your attention, don't get bored when I tell you it is at Banana Republic. I'll admit, in recent years I've lost some interest in the store.  I am all for good basics, which they have, but sometimes you need a little flare to make your basics standout.  At 40% off sale you can justify anything you want to buy.  After a night out, four glasses of wine and two kids up at 5:30, I am in the mood for some figure concealing basics I think I could live in.
This top is cute enough to wear with just about anything (jeans, skirts, casual pants, etc).  I love the idea of layering it under this dress.

This is a great shift with a t-back. Any slim fitting shirt would be so cute underneath.  If that preppy look isn't your gig you can easily throw a cardigan on, or a cropped jean jacket.
The dress and the shirt combined will run you about $100, which is less than the original cost of the dress.  Both items available at Banana Republic online or in stores.  Happy Saturday and happy shopping.

Ninety Really Isn't So Bad

On the cusp of Gelty's three month anniversary and the end of summer fast approaching I thought it would be a good idea to offer some special pricing!  If you've ever thought about hiring a personal shopper or stylist now is a great time. Get your closet refreshed and organized before the cold weather hits.

If you book an appointment between now and  9/23 you can get two hours of a closet edit and one hour of online personal shopping for $90. This is a 55% savings off regular prices.

What will you get for $90, you ask?
I will help you go through your closet and determine what is working for you and what isn't.
I will put together different outfits for you in a look book.
I will identify pieces  you are missing that can complete your wardrobe.
Then  I will do some online shopping for you for the pieces you need and send you the links so
you can decide what you want to buy.
You know you want to do this, so make it happen. Let's turn a new leaf (excuse the pun) before fall.

Throwing Tomatoes is Just Rude

Presenting my newest obsession, don't hit me, or think I am crazy.  I saw this skirt today and I am obsessed!  Ok I just lied, I saw it last week on my girlfriend and was obsessed then too. You can get the brand, Flying Tomatoes, locally at Kismet or online at Piperlime.  Prices range from $36 to $96 depending on where you buy.  When you see me living in this skirt this fall, don't judge me.

On a side note, if you haven't been to Kismet yet you need to go.  Every time I walk in there I am astounded with the great selection of unique clothes at super reasonable prices. Please go, you'll love it.

Always the Bridesmaid and Never the Pregnant Guest, Until Now

If you've ever had the less than awesome experience of shopping for maternity clothes you know that the whole industry is a total racket! If you've been fortunate enough to have multiple children you know investing in maternity clothes is silly and you try to get by with what you have or buy non-maternity items that work now and "later."  But what are you supposed to do when you have an event  to go to, such as a wedding?  Is this the time to buy a maternity  dress that you will literally wear once? Or do you try to squeeze into something non-maternity and hope it works?

I think you could go either way, you can get away with a lot when pregnant.  If going that maternity route go for something super fashionable. It's not like you'll have to worry if you'll "get to wear it again."  This jumpsuit is super fashionable and in style right  now. You cat totally dress it up with some jewelry, make-up and the right shoes.
Tart Maternity Michelle Drop Waist Jumpsuit $114.90 can be yours by clicking here

If you don't want to invest in a maternity outfit I strongly suggest considering Eileen Fisher clothing.  I know what you're thinking (believe me I have said it out loud) but her clothes are honestly really pretty.  Take for example this cobalt blue  silk dress. It is a great color, well made, etc.  Though it may look a little dowdy on this size two model, it will be stunning with your baby bump.  It is also super forgiving and and you might actually wear it again when not pregnant, but rather feeling bloated instead.
